If Rocco were human (well, to us he is) he would wear a T-shirt with rolled up sleeves where he would tuck his cigarettes as he drank beer and combed his long hair into a duck tail watching football games. He is THE ball fanatic: Tennis balls, footballs, soccer balls – he has them all – as long as they can be thrown (by us), and retrieved (by him), they’ll do. When friends come over he assumes (sometimes rightfully) that they’re there to play ball with him. After greeting them, he makes a beeline for his toy box where he digs through his collection of toys and finds just the right ball for the occasion. If the unsuspecting visitor isn’t paying attention, Rocco will wait patiently for about 5 seconds then will promptly and carefully place the ball at a high point between their legs. He will  back up and sit giving them another chance to throw the ball. It’s amazing how fast our friends have been trained. Yes, he occasionally an embarrassment, but fortunately Rocco is loved by everyone. Sometimes, I think people come over just  to see him

ROCCO

March 14, 2001 – February 5, 2006

We will never forget…

As is always the case, our boy Rocco was taken much too soon. We lost him on February 5th, 2006 to a brain aneurysm.

As we took our afternoon walk on a golden Sunday afternoon with our three boxers and Chloe our Papillion right on our heels, the boxers took off chasing rabbits on our 50 acres of high desert property.

Suddenly, Rocco turned away from the other two boxers and quietly disappeared into a thicket of Juniperwood trees. He gently lay down and was gone. We found him in a lovely clearing of soft red earth and rocks, overlooking our valley and distant mountains.

He left doing what he loves best, chasing rabbits, with his beloved human and boxer family.

Words cannot describe the sense of loss and sadness we all feel. Every moment of our lives was touched with Rocco’s loving presence. He was our beloved friend and companion – child and protector.

When he entered our lives at 11 weeks old, we thought we’d teach him stuff…but Rocco had other plans. While he learned well, graduated from obedience training at the top of his class…more than our student, he became our teacher. He personified unconditional love, patience, and dignity…yes, he was a much better teacher than we were students.

While we are coming to terms with the loss of our boy Rocco, accepting that his mission here was complete and it was his time, we will be forever grateful for the short time we had with him - the joy and laughter that he brought into our lives.

For this reason, we dedicate our Mar-Rocco Boxers website to Telstar’s Rocco.
